I signed up to Birchbox this month after not having a subscription box for years. When they first became a thing I was signed up to Glossybox AND Birchbox and I loved it. Receiving two new boxes of goodies every month to try out, but it got a bit expensive and at the time I didn’t earn very much so I cancelled them. That was in 2012 though and a lot has changed since then, so I’m really glad I remembered Birchbox and signed back up because I love everything that I’ve received in this months box and I already can’t wait for Septembers box.
If you’re not familiar with Birchbox it’s a beauty subscription box which you can receive either as a one-off or every month. It costs £12.95 a month and you’ll receive 5 products, some in mini sizes and some in full sizes. The great thing about Birchbox is that you fill in your profile when you sign up so that they can tailor your box to your skin type/skin colour/hair colour/hair type etc which is so great. No one want’s to receive something that just isn’t suited to them at all do they? Once you receive your box, if you really like something and want to buy the full size you can get 10% off when you buy through the Birchbox website!
So now that you know what Birchbox is, let me get into telling you what I received in my August Birchbox. I was super pleased to see it was mermaid theme this month. The box is so cute and looks lush on my dressing table. I also really like that rather than a standard box it has a little drawer which you open to find your products.
So here’s what I got:
- Oribe Aprés Beach Wave and Shine Spray (travel size)
- Palmers Coconut Oil Body Lotion (travel size)
- Merci Handy Love & Hand Cleansing Gel (full size)
- LOC One & Done Shadow Stick (full size)
- Spectrum Collections Glam Clam Brush (full size)
Lets talk about this a-m-a-z-i-n-g brush first. How beautiful is this? You got to choose which one you wanted and this one was by far my favourite. I love the mix of colours, particularly on the brush head itself.
Just look how pretty it is. I don’t actually know if I’ll be able to bring myself to use this brush tbqh.
Onto this eyeshadow stick from LOC next, I’m not usually a fan of these as I find they crease really easily but I’m looking forward to giving this one a go. Obviously I will report back my findings, either in a monthly favourites post or a disappointing products post, whatever the case may be! I really like the colour though, it looks super wearable and like it might also be good as a base? We shall see.
I was so excited when I saw a hand sanitiser was included, I love scented hand sanitisers and I get through them so quickly. I actually have quite the collection, mainly Bath and Body Works ones as I find they do the best scents, but I’m excited to try this one out. The packaging is super cute too.
I won’t lie, I did a little squeal when I saw this. I’ve heard so many bloggers rave about Oribe hair products and I’m so happy I have one to try out for myself now. This spray sounds perfect for me too as I love putting waves in my hair now that it’s shorter, fingers crossed it lives up to the hype.
There wasn’t a single thing in my Birchbox that I wasn’t happy with, which is amazing because it means I have 5 things to try out that I’m really excited about. I’ve used Palmers products in the past and always loved them but I haven’t yet tried their coconut oil formula. Actually, I tell a lie I’ve tried the hand cream but that’s it. I’ve mentioned before that I have dry skin so I think this range will be perfect for me.
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what I got in my August Birchbox, if you subscribe too and have written a blog post about your box please leave a link below! I’d love to see what other people received 🙂
