Birthday Lunching in Cowbridge
Tuesday 21st August was my 30th birthday and I celebrated by spending the day with my husband in a small town not far from us and having a wander around the shops. It was a bit of a cloudy day, although the sun decided to pop his head out just as we got home (typical!) however, we had a really nice time nonetheless.
We got into Cowbridge around 11:30 and it started spitting with rain, luckily only for around 10 minutes but it was the perfect opportunity to bundle into a beautiful little gift shop for a nose around. They had so many cute things including some wooden ducks in wellington boots! Although in hindsight they might have been geese.
For lunch, we went to The Bear Hotel and had the best chips ever. Ugh, they were so good. I was super excited because they had the Boë Violet Gin on their menu however they ended up being sold out, so I opted for the Whitley Neill Raspberry Gin and lemonade instead. I love Parma Violets so really want to try the violet gin at some point!
I had lasagne and the aforementioned amazing chips and Will had a king prawn penne dish which was delicious. I really fancied going for a nice pub lunch for my birthday and I absolutely nailed it with this choice. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a shot of Wills lunch but I’m sure the photos of mine will make up for it.
After lunch, we were so full that we just couldn’t walk around anymore so headed home for an afternoon of chilling out at home. I still managed a slice of birthday cake when I got though of course, I mean you’re only 30 once right?!
