Everyday Handbag Essentials

To date I am yet to find the perfect handbag. The one that has the right amount of space, enough pockets and compartments whilst not being ridiculously oversized and cumbersome. However that is another blog post for another day. Today I want to talk about my everyday handbag essentials, the things I always have in my bag no matter what.

  1. Lip Balm – Possibly the top item you would find in every girls handbag and the one you would score the most points for if you were on Family Fortunes. Lip balm is something I ALWAYS have in my bag. I reapply it about 289472849283409 times a day because my lips are always dry so it’s something I reach for a lot. I’m currently using the O’Keeffes Lip Repair which I mentioned in my 7 Beauty Products I Can’t Live Without post earlier this week.
  2. Tissues – As someone who suffers with Rhinitis tissues are almost as important as lip balm for me. I have tissues everywhere, in every coat pocket, in my dressing gown pocket, on my bedside table, literally e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e especially in my handbag because to be without tissues when you have Rhinitis is like being without a drink when you’re thirsty. Ok slightly dramatic but if you have Rhinitis then you’ll know what I mean, tissues are life.
  3. Hand Cream – After lip balm I’m guessing that this would get you the second highest amount of points on Family Fortunes because who doesn’t carry hand cream in their handbag? I have it in my bag all year round but especially when it’s cold because the wind and rain (not to mention snow!) destroy my hands. I like to put it on just before I put my gloves on to leave the house to keep a barrier there and then I reapply it throughout the day as and when I need it. Nothing worse than when you really need some hand cream and you don’t have any on you, cracked sore hands are not the one.
  4. Hand Sanitiser – This one I’m sure also like number 1 and 3 goes without saying, most people these days carry hand sanitiser in their handbag. It’s so handy for travelling, eating out etc and you can get some really nice scented ones now too. Carex does a bubblegum one and another that smells like strawberry laces and if you search on eBay for bath and bodyworks hand sanitizer you can get some amazing ones! I usually save the B&BW ones until Autumn/Halloween time because I think that’s when they really shine with their scent selection but they do some great ones all year round too and they’re only around £3 each including postage, just stick to a UK seller to get it for the best price.

There you have it, my handbag essentials, other than the obvious purse, keys and phone that’s really all I have in my handbag. Sometimes I take my bullet journal with me if I think I might need it but for the most part even that stays at home. What are your handbag essentials?
